Suppliers
Objective: To engage with suppliers to ensure sustainability is embedded in the supply chain as much as is practical.
A group of 12 suppliers attended our third environmental workshop for contractors in August 2008, including Wates, Carillion and Langley Hall Associates.
Key contacts from a range of construction partners attended, including design consultants, engineers, architects and contractors. We provided updates on BREEAM and Energy Performance Certificates (EPC), reinforcing our commitment to achieve a minimum BREEAM Very Good rating and EPC rating of A or B for all new developments.
In 2008, six construction contractors participated in an induction programme with our UK Environmental Manager.
This programme includes an introduction to:
- Our Environmental Management System and other relevant guidance, such as our Sustainable Timber Procurement Policy
- Our expectations and standards relating to waste management and the Considerate Constructors Scheme
- Best practice on construction sites across our developments.
